Grammar Girl

There's a not so great side of me that wants to be right......a lot.

So, when my sister told me about this "Grammar Girl" expert she listens to on a podcast, I thought Hey, I've been a teacher for 21 years; I don't need some squawking 20-something telling ME that A LOT is two words. I am the one who tells OTHERS that.

Another reason I was reluctant to check-in with this Grammar Girl person , is that I ALREADY have a favorite website like this that I visit, The English Teacher Blog. Did I need another favorite? I didn't think so.
Eventually, curiosity grabbed a hold of me and I went to visit Grammar Girl on her website. As an official grammar dork, I must say I really enjoyed the visit and you will too if you like examining word usages and punctuation placement. I think we are a special people, we grammar-lovers; we are somewhat akin to the "Trekkies." Others don't always "get us," and we kind of relish that position in the universe- the misunderstood.

During my Grammar Girl visit, I sheepishly signed up for the newsletter, acquiescing to the woman who can better explain when you should use If I were vs. If I was.

(It's a tricky one to explain to a 6th grader.)

When all is said and done, I have to appreciate Grammar Girl because she will help me with my always wanting to be right issue.

I now have a backup team.

&;o) We are SUCH kindred spirits! My children would agree that I'm a most annoying kind of grammar geek. I haven't checked out the grammar girl, but sure sounds like a worthwhile site. The kids may not appreciate my having yet another quotable English-obsessive source, though...

But if we spread the word about Grammar Girl then EVERYONE will know it all...then what will WE do?

Oh I was so bad at grammar at school, and spellings too.
You might have noticed with all the typos in my comments and posts lol (blush)
Except they're probably not typos just me thinking I spelled something correctly and being to lazy to spell check it!
I could do with all the help I can get obviously lol;0)

Oh please...MY comments wouldn't feel at home unless I had glaring errors in them.
I can talk the talk...
