The Yuktober Bad Haiku Winners Are.....

With 15 poets
It was a Yuktoberfest
To be remembered.
I promised the WINNERS a bad prize....today I will be off to find those bad prizes. But for now...
Cheryl wins for a category I did not create ahead of time, but I should have. The topic of manners while trick or treating.....THE ART OF TRICK OR TREATING if you will. It makes me a little cranky when the costumed darlings don't say "trick or treat" or "thank you." It offends Miss Cheryl's southern sensibilities as well. Nancy also is a winner for story format. Gotta love the bad haiku that travel outside the box. Go Nancy.

Bravo to Cheryl and Nancy. Grab this button. (Email me your address too.)

Tom and Jeanne both write about the munching of candy by either themselves or the ones they love most. I love candy....and I love eating candy.

Tom and Jeanne...this runner-up button is for you.

The husband and wife bad haiku team of Aimee and Rob, once again, walk away wieners....oops, I mean WINNERS. They certainly are a clever couple- dinner time must be an exciting match of witticisms between courses. Rob's subject references The Legend of Sleep Hollow- which of course he may have known would tug at my teacher heart strings. Aimee's subject- the kids who bring an extra treat bag "for their sisters" tugs at my sense of decency heart strings. Bravo. Well crafted. Aimee, please take this button on behalf of you and your spouse. (Email your address too.)

***************************************************
Best Subject runners-up include Jenni because she wrote about dollar store candy. I consider myself a cheapskate dollar store queen, but I do not eat FOOD from the dollar store. I am quite convinced that dollar store food comes from the corner of a warehouse and has sat there since the time Jan first wore her glasses on The Brady Bunch. Applause for Jenni.

Bia, one of my favorite perfect people, wrote about coffee...and the extreme makeover results that coffee provides for her demeanor. In the spirit of Java Sisterhood- Bia earns recognition for the great topic of COFFEE (and the witch picture).

Jenni and Bia- please take this button.

Sometimes I wonder if Lisa, Are We There Yet?, ever sleeps because I picture her tossing and turning at night tormented by a barrage of clever thoughts. Her poem tells a story of a little pumpkin and is accompanied by some adorable artwork. The combination makes the reader go AWWW. As a result, Lisa wins the Too Cute for This Contest Award.

Lisa, please grab this button. (Email me your address too.)

Kristi and her family took a sticky sweet adorable picture in a "pumpkin" patch with their faces sticking through. Who wouldn't' love that? (Someone with a heart of stone maybe.) Haiku- is haikute.

GrandmaK- writer of all things spiritual and kind-also filled her post with CUTE playing with the word BOO. Love it. Kristi and Cathy Grab a runner-up button

*******************************************************

Whose haiku made us laugh the most....right outloud- unexpectedly? A tie has been called.

Cathy brings out the YUK factor on several levels. First, STUCKTOBER- hysterical play on the October theme. Second, the several references she makes to all things STUCK. The subject is unique and the unusual topic and illustration hits a home run.

The second haiku that absolutely MUST score a button is Colleen- my coworker. If not just for the lobotomy reference then for the phrase "unsuspecting gourd." She's my hero.

Cathy and Colleen grab a button. (Email me your address too.)

Michelle wins the grand prize.
The topic.
The toddler.
The toilet.
Hands down- most excellent presentation.
Congratulations. (Email your address please.)

Thank you ever so much! (Usually, my southern tendencies would require a written acknowledgment of such a generous gesture -- hoping this heartfelt comment will suffice!)

Please tell me Sweet Sister of Verse that a holiday haiku fest is in the offing.... ;)

Seriously, thank you! So much fun to read them all.
